Pumps & Motors
Whether you operate and maintain a hotel, condominium, office building, retail store, restaurant, or hospital, you can save energy by examining your pumps and motors.
If your facility’s pumps and motors will be in need of replacement in the near future, now is the time to start planning for a newer, better, and more efficient system.
Electronically Commutated Motors (ECM) on Fan Coil Units
An ECM is a fractional horsepower direct current (DC) motor used most often in an HVAC application on centrifugal fans in fan coil-units. Standard forward-bladed centrifugal fans in fan coil-units driven by AC motors are typically around 45% efficient. However, the latest ECMs are 80% more energy-efficient, leading to significant operational benefits.
Electronically Commutated Motors (ECM) in Commercial Refrigeration
An ECM is a fractional horsepower direct current (DC) motor used most often in commercial refrigeration applications such as display cases, walk-in coolers/freezers, refrigerated vending machines, and bottle coolers. EC Motors uses less than one third of the electricity used by shaded pole motors used in ventilation and refrigeration units.
Domestic Water Pump
Retrofit domestic water pumps (also known as “booster pumps”) take potable city water from the street and pump it up to high-rise buildings (generally, those that are six floors or higher) or across campuses of buildings. A pump retrofit can yield 20 to 50% savings in electricity usage related to water pumping.
Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) for Pool Pump
Swimming pool pumps can often quietly and unnecessarily use electricity beyond what is needed to keep the pool clean and safe. The key to increased pump efficiency and lower energy costs is to run the pump at its lowest possible speed, yet achieve the required turnover per day. This can happen by installing an energy-efficient VFD pool pump.
Premium Efficiency Motors
For HVAC applications such as supply fans, return fans, exhaust fans, chilled water pumps, and boiler feed water pumps, look to save on energy and demand with premium efficiency three phase Open Drip Proof (ODP) and Totally Enclosed Fan-Cooled (TEFC) motors.
